Web Storage and Cookies

Cookies and web storage are mechanisms for web pages to remember important information (such as items in a shopping cart) and thus are essential for modern web pages.

Some pages also use storage mechanisms to track user behaviour and create virtual user profiles. Technically, third-party cookies are particularly suitable for that matter, since they allow tracking across different web sites, potentially revealing a lot about a user's browsing behavior and personal interests. Often the collected data is used for personalized advertising, an effective but controversial tool of online marketing.

This page does not use cookies. However, to make this page work, we need to save some information you provide to us locally in your browser cache using HTML Web Storage. We only store data that is essential for creating your SECEC/ESSSE certification application. Please see the "Information You Provide to Us" for details on which information you provide to us when using this page.

We will never share the information you provided with anyone else, everything stays on your local machine (stored in your browser cache). However, if you really want to eliminate all traces of your activity, you need to clear the cache for this page in your browser settings. Please refer to your browser's documentation about how exactly local storage can be cleared.

You may also configure your web browser to block certain websites from using of cookies and local storage. Note however, that this page will not work with local storage disabled.

In order to provide our website securely and efficiently, we use external service providers (hosting providers). All service providers are carefully selected by us also with regards to your privacy.

  • Date and time of access
  • Information on success or failure of the webrequest (HTTP response code)

  • URL of the previously visited website (referrer)

The access data is stored in server log files to ensure and optimize the functionality of the website. We will not store this access data together with other personal data or link it to them. The data is deleted as soon as it no longer serves the purpose it was collected for. In the case of the server log files, the data is deleted after seven days at the latest. Temporary storage beyond this period is generally possible for maintenance purposes, but in this case the IP addresses will be removed or made anonymous.
